Ghost Mode

How It Works

Ghost Mode uses macOS system-level audio capture to record all audio output on your Mac. When you join a Zoom, Google Meet, or Teams call, Karnyx silently captures the meeting audio without injecting any bot into the call.

• Audio is captured directly from your system audio device
• No bot joins the call — participants see nothing
• Works with any web-based or native meeting platform
• Requires macOS Screen Recording permission (audio capture)

When to Use Ghost Mode

• Internal meetings where you want notes but do not need explicit consent
• Client calls where a visible bot would create social friction
• 1:1 conversations that you want to remember without making it formal
• Ad-hoc calls where you decide to capture mid-conversation

Privacy Considerations

Setup

1. Open Karnyx Settings → Capture
2. Ensure Ghost Mode is enabled (it is on by default)
3. Grant macOS Screen Recording permission when prompted
4. Karnyx will now automatically detect and capture calendar meetings

Bot Mode

How It Works

Bot Mode uses Recall.ai to join your meeting as a visible participant. The bot appears with a name like "Karnyx Meeting Bot" and records audio and video. All participants are notified that the meeting is being recorded.

• Bot joins Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or Webex
• Participants see a notification: "This meeting is being recorded"
• Bot can provide real-time transcription captions (optional)
• Higher quality audio capture than Ghost Mode

When to Use Bot Mode

• External meetings where transparency is required or preferred
• Recorded webinars where recording is already expected
• Compliance scenarios where you need explicit consent tracking
• Team meetings where everyone is aware and consents to recording

Setup

1. Open Karnyx Settings → Integrations
2. Click Enable Bot Mode and connect your Recall.ai account
3. Configure bot display name and default behavior
4. For specific meetings, toggle Bot Mode on in the meeting details panel
